Our model has been proven by the development of a co-sourced Internal Audit Unit for Landis+Gyr between 2005 and 2012. The negotiation and networking required to set up the co-sourcing arrangements required a significant learning-curve. The resulting organisation confimed, however, that significant cost reductions could be achieved while capacity was increased. Quality remained stable.
In 2010, thanks to co-sourcing, the on-staff team of 3 auditors was able to complete 60 internal audit projects on four continents. When L+G was sold to Toshiba in 2011, it was possible to immediately reduce the Unit's activity and budget by 50% without staff reductions.
